Testimonials are NOT neutral

Hey, Reader.

What we're getting into:

🪞 The line sitting on your testimonials page that's telling people your work is worth nothing
❓ The exact question you're asking clients that's producing that line

A client finishes working with you and wants to say something nice, so she writes: "The information was so valuable, and honestly, the cost was basically nothing if you think about it."

You read it, you feel the warmth, you post it. Compliment, right? Whatever a happy client decides to say is just a gift you display. But when you publish someone else's words on your site, you're letting that person set your value in public, and often it's unintentionally cheapening your work.

Testimonials are not neutral. But when you have testimonials structured properly, they can be free, hands-off advertising for you.

So here's how you can improve them...

It usually starts with the question you're asking. If you're currently saying "would you mind writing a few words about your experience?", that's the leak. Open-ended asks produce vague, value-flattening answers almost every time, because you've handed her a blank page and no direction. There's a specific three-question structure that fixes this and that's what this week's podcast episode walks through (linked below).

For right now: pull your three most recent testimonials and flag any that could be read as "it wasn't much." Listen to this weeks episode and make some modifications so your testimonials can do the heavy lifting you need them to: getting you more clients, quickly.

If She's The BOSS has been useful to you, here's how you can support the show: leave a 5-star rating wherever you listen. It takes a few seconds and it's the single biggest thing that helps new Holistic Nutritionists find the pod. If you've got thirty seconds, a written review means even more, tell me what episode was helpful and why.

PS: if you haven't taken the *NEW* Empire Gap Quiz, here it is:

Digital Course Creation for Nutritionists

I teach nutritionists how to create digital courses that run on automation. As a Holistic Nutritionist of 15+ years, I know how draining it can be to work one-one-one with clients or run group coaching. I understand the desire to increase impact while also increasing revenue. I show my students how to do both with my step-by-step process of creating a digital course with systems and automations that allow for more work-life balance and cash flow without more hours.
